Publishing Royalties
Publishing royalties are everything the composition earns — performance royalties plus mechanical royalties — paid to songwriters and publishers.
Publishing royalties are the composition's side of the money, and they come in two flavors: performance (when the song is played publicly) and mechanical (when it's reproduced or streamed). Songwriters and publishers split them.
Collecting publishing royalties globally means registering with PROs, mechanical-rights organizations, and collection societies around the world. Notes does this as a publishing administrator — without taking ownership of your songs.

Publishing Royalties: common questions
- Are publishing royalties different from my distribution/streaming payout?
- Yes. Your distributor pays recording royalties on the master; publishing royalties are a separate, often-missed stream on the composition, collected through PROs and mechanical collectors.
