Sync Royalties
Sync royalties are paid when your music is licensed to sync with visual media — film, TV, ads, games, trailers, and fitness or creator content.
A sync license covers both sides of a song: the master (the recording, licensed from the owner) and the composition (licensed from the songwriter/publisher). A use typically pays an up-front fee, and public performances of that placement can also generate performance royalties down the line.
Getting placed and getting paid both depend on your music and metadata being available and correctly registered. Notes makes your catalog available to sync and fitness platforms and reconciles what each use earns.

Sync Royalties: common questions
- Do sync royalties pay the songwriter and the artist?
- Yes — a sync license clears both the composition (songwriter/publisher) and the master (recording owner), so both sides are paid.
- Does Notes take a cut of sync income?
- No. Notes is a flat subscription, so sync royalties are reconciled and paid to you in full.
