Pre-Save
A pre-save lets fans save a release before it drops, so it lands in their library and their play counts from the moment it goes live — concentrating day-one streams.
A pre-save (or pre-add / pre-order) is a link fans use before release day to commit a stream in advance. The track drops straight into their library and plays count from minute one, so a release builds day-one momentum that can help with playlisting and discovery.
Pre-saves are a distribution-side marketing tool — they don't change how royalties are split or collected. For those first-day plays to actually pay out in full, your splits, credits, and registrations need to be in place before release. Notes handles the registration side alongside distribution so nothing is missed at launch.
Good to know
Pre-Save: common questions
- Do pre-saves increase my royalties?
- Indirectly. Each stream still pays the same per-play rate, but concentrating streams on day one can boost playlisting and discovery, which drives more plays over time.
- How far ahead should I schedule a release for pre-saves?
- Most artists schedule a few weeks out, so there's time to build a pre-save campaign and get credits, splits, and registrations in place before launch.
