Notes.fm, the royalty recovery platform founded by Stem co-founder Tim Luckow, raised five million dollars from a group that includes Benny Blanco, Zach Bryan, and Ari Emanuel. The platform has already recovered more than ten million dollars in previously unclaimed royalties for artists including James Blake and Girl in Red, working across streaming services and collection societies like the Mechanical Licensing Collective. The insight is structural: most of the money artists are owed was never stolen; it was simply never claimed, because the infrastructure to find it didn’t exist until recently.
